At Brick City Cat Hospital, we strive to provide the best care for your pets. To maintain our high standards, we're updating our prescription policy.
Effective June 15, 2024, we will no longer accept third-party prescription requests (e.g., Chewy or 1-800-PetMeds, etc.). These requests will be sent back declined.
We offer several options for you to continue receiving your medications.
Firstly, you can use our new online store at https://brickcitycathospital.covetruspharmacy.com/ to order diets, supplies, and medications directly to your home. Our store offers standard MSRP pricing with rotating discount deals, and integrates seamlessly with our software for efficient prescription review.
Secondly, you may continue to order through any online store of your choice, including Chewy. You can submit a prescription request to us, and we will provide a written prescription for you to fill at your chosen pharmacy. These may be picked up the hospital.
*Medication refills require a mailed physical paper, while therapeutic diet prescriptions can be emailed. For instance, a refill of cerenia will require you to mail a paper copy to chewy, but Royal Canin urinary diet prescriptions can be emailed by you.
Why this change?
Staff Efficiency: Each third-party prescription request requires a 7-step review process involving a receptionist, technician, and doctor. With up to 20 requests daily, this creates a bottleneck, impacting appointment schedules and distracting from patient care. Adding to that, phone calls from owners for status updates further wastes valuable staff time that should be focused on patients. None of this staff time is recompensed by the third-party store.
Third-Party Unreliability: Issues with third-party sellers, including delays and errors, can compromise your pet's health.
Medication Quality: Manufacturers of medications should stand behind their products, which they cannot do once they leave their warehouse and go a third-party seller/middleman.
We understand this change may require adjustment. We suggest you plan ahead for any online refills.
In house medication refills, and written prescription requests ordered from Brick City Cat Hospital, do require 24 hours. Patients in the hospital with appointments receive care before we can review prescriptions. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us.
We hope this change will enable us to continue giving your pets the best care possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
